He received his medical degree from McMaster University and completed a Ph.D. in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University and a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. DiDiodato is recognized globally for his expertise and leadership in health research methodology and clinical innovation, most recently developing the ASKmeGOC initiative, a new clinical tool and practice algorithm designed to facilitate standardized goals-of-care discussions among healthcare providers and patients, particularly in complex medical situations. The tool is currently being developed in partnership with other hospitals, long-term care homes, and family medicine clinics under a national grant.

As RVH’s Chief Research Scientist, Dr. DiDiodato provides vital support in the evaluation of new hospital technologies and processes, with the goal of improving healthcare delivery for patients and reducing administrative workload for physicians and nurses. He is a tireless advocate for developing community hospital research capacity across Canada and embedding research into everyday practice, such that hospitals with limited resources can still drive innovation, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to advancements in healthcare by utilizing evidence-based strategies and maximizing the impact of their clinical practices.
