A big congratulations to Dr. Corey Heerschap on earning his PhD in Nursing from Queen’s University!

Dr. Heerschap is a Wound, Ostomy, & Continence Nurse Specialist at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, bringing over 12 years of expertise to research, education, and improved wound care practices. He also serves as the President of Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada, leading innovation in care locally and across the country.

His doctoral thesis, “Uncovering the Decision-Making Process of Wound Management by Nurses,” offers valuable insights for administrators, policymakers, and those involved in nursing education by examining clinician decision-making processes and supporting evidence-based practice.

Building on this work, Dr. Heerschap plans to explore how artificial intelligence can advance education, assessment, and management of wound, ostomy, and continence care.
